Configuring Strip Sync for Windows

To get started, run the App Store on your device and make sure you have upgraded to the latest version of Strip. This document assumes that you’ve already downloaded and installed Strip Sync for Windows.

Next, double-click the Strip Sync icon on your desktop or run it from the Program Menu.

The first time you run Strip Sync you’ll be prompted to enter the database password. Enter the same password you use for Strip on your mobile device. You may be prompted by your Windows Firewall to allow Strip Sync to use your Network. Click Allow on any firewall prompts.

Once Strip Sync is running on your desktop:

  1. Log back into Strip on your device
  2. Click Strip’s Sync tab on your iPhone
  3. Click Choose a Computer, and select your computer name from the list
  4. Click the Start Sync button

This should synchronize your device with the desktop. You should see the appropriate number of Categories, Entries and Fields on the Database Information section. Once you’ve synced, please experiment and test with the following features:

  1. Export your database to a CSV file
  2. Import new entries from a CSV file (note that it is not yet possible to update entries in place in Windows, so only use import to create NEW entries)
  3. Backup / restore databases from the Backup Tab
  4. Synchronize databases between multiple computers and devices (i.e. 1 computer with both an iPhone and an iPad)

Please note that Strip Sync requires Bonjour for Windows so your device can locate your computer on a wireless network. If you have iTunes istalled on the computer you install Strip Sync on, then you already have Bonjour and you’re all set. However, if you don’t have iTunes then you should also install the stand-alone Bonjour Windows Package distributed by Apple.
